HYPE Recreation Center of Western Wayne, located just 5 miles north of Detroit Metro Airport, features a three (3) basketball court gymnasium with an overhead sound system which is the PERFECT size & setting for this grand event.  Battles will take place in the center floor of the gymnasium with ample, peripheral floor space for the dancers.  There is also elevated, spectator seating on one end of the gymnasium.

On the day of the event, our goal is to maximize competitors' performance & deliver the most positive experience for all our guests.  In order to facilitate this, we as the host fully embrace the important role of prioritizing the event schedule.  Therefore, prelims will begin promptly at noon.  If you are a competitor & are not present at the start of prelims, then you have until the last prelim battle to arrive & sign up to compete.  Thank you for your understanding & cooperation.

The event schedule is as follows:

10 am: Doors Open

12 - 4 pm: Prelims

4 - 5 pm: Judges Deliberation & Cypher Time

5 pm: Judges Showcase & Top 32

6 pm: Top 16 & Quarters

7 pm: Semis & Finals

We believe that standoffs during prelims are inappropriate, a poor use of event time & a strain on overall schedule.  To avoid standoffs & minimize transition time between battles, prelims will run via showcase format with four (4) crews per battle.  The order in which crews do their rounds in a given battle will be assigned randomly by event organizers.

I.e., for a given battle, four (4) crews are randomly assigned in order A thru D.  Dancer #1 from Crew A thru D do their rounds followed by Dancer #2 from Crew A thru D.

The crews assigned to the very 1st, 2nd & 3rd prelim battle will be given a 15-minute advance notice.

During the announcement of the four (4) crews for the next battle ('to the stage'), the crews in the upcoming battles (2nd - 'on deck', 3rd - 'in the hole') will be announced at the same time as well.

Guests may bring their own bottled water.  No other beverages or outside food is allowed into the venue.

The cafe located in the venue will be open for the duration of the event from 10 am to 8pm.  Further, there's a grocery store (AB Market) directly across the intersection of Howe Road & Annapolis Street in the northwest corner that's open on the day of the event from 8am to 10pm.
